Finding Nemo on the PlayStation 2 is as you would expect based on the hit Disney/Pixar movie of the same name. This was probably the last generation where the video game movie tie in was a 'thing'. The thing is, Finding Nemo actually had a lot going for it as it was actually developed by the good folks at Travelers Tales who tend to make good games, but this is not one of their best efforts.

The scenes they have ripped from the movie look great and are the highlight of the presentation. The text in the game has a weird kind of thing going on and it may have been ok back in 2003 on your standard-def TV, but now it is kind of hard to read.
Broken Dreams & Broken Controllers
Ok, so I would bet that on Christmas morning of 2003, many kids woke up and got Finding Nemo for PlayStation 2. So, with that in mind and that is who clearly the target audience is, you would think that this is a game that would be easy…. Nope!!! This game is hard and I do not mean hard for a kid's game, but brutally hard. The controls are kind of strange and it feels like a side scroller that wants to be in 3D. As a result, moving around and even nailing enemies with your bubbles takes a great deal of getting used to.
Finding Nemo is the kind of game where you simply must play it over and over again in order to get the patterns down and learn the little 'tricks' that you need to do in order to beat the game. I would bet that most children would get extremely frustrated with this.

To be fair, I think there are actually way more good Disney games than there are bad ones. Also, to be fair, during this era, Disney was making good games. I think games like Chicken Little, Monsters Inc and The Incredibles were decent enough kids' games. Finding Nemo, on the other hand, feels kind of flat. I think if the game was not so hard, it would have been a harmless little romp through the events of the movie.
